Wondering about Electrolytes?

How does Amanda get her electrolytes?

Teaching and taking class for 9 years in the hot room, this is what I have found...

If you are experiencing extreme cramping often during or after class, chance are you are already beyond low levels of electrolytes. If you only cramp once in a awhile, maybe you forgot to drink enough water, or could use a boost. I have been looking for an excellent source of minerals, that my body can absorb, and that my wallet can handle for years! I have experienced in my body all extremes, and at the last stages, only then realized that I was very low, and my body was a bit mad at me... in fact I was out of breath often, and with some energy testing, I found I was really mostly low in copper, the trace mineral that supports the uptake of oxygen through haemoglobin in my red blood cells.

I did not need a multi vitamin, or a pre natal. I needed copper.

I had tried other mixes that just made me feel nauseous or sick due to the fact that I didn’t need all the extra vitamins in the bottle... so, by simply adding some trace minerals, I felt better in just a few short days!

I have tried cell food, minerals from mount Fuji, multi vitamins, sea salt, and just lately have found a few other options that I feel are maybe the best I’ve tried.

Originally found in India in the Himalayas, and found in mountain ranges around the world (we just haven’t tapped into our Canadian sources yet...) Shilajit (shee-li-jeet) is a mineral supplement from Russia. $25 for small jar of what looks like black tar that I mix from the tip of a toothpick into my 40 oz water bottle for the day! My needs will be different from yours, as I sometimes spend 90-180 min in the hot room a day, so experiment with what feels good for you. A little goes a long way!

To maintain a balance, you can definitely sprinkle ( a pinch like in grandma's recipes) of Himalayan sea salt into your daily water bottle. A full spectrum of minerals are also well absorbed this way into your body.

Gomashio is a Macrobiotic condiment that will also help you get a great source of salt in your diet that your body will love. (We will do another workshop with Tannis soon on how you can make it at home:)
